House mulls legal aid bill

A proposed legislation now before parliament will see residents receiving free legal services from a new division of the Ministry of Justice and Courts to be called the Community Law Center.
In its second reading in the House, the center will “cater for people who cannot afford to engage the services of private lawyers,” said Justice Minister Fiame Naomi Mataafa.
“It will strengthen and improve public access to legal services in the country.
