The Samoa – Australia Police Partnership (SAPP) is providing advanced investigations training to 20 current and future detectives.

The four week course was officially opened by Police Commissioner Lilomaiava Suemalo Fou Taioalo, and is being delivered by the Samoa Police Training Section with assistance from visiting and resident Australian police advisors from the Australian Federal Police (AFP).

The Australian High Commissioner, Dr Stephen Henningham, said that “This important cooperation between Samoa and Australia, as part of the Samoa Australia Police Partnership, will develop the investigative capacity of the Samoan Police force, both now and into the future�?.

The High Commissioner presented certificates from the Canberra Institute of Technology (CIT) to 15 Samoa Police Service graduates who completed training earlier this year. The graduates now hold a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, an internationally recognised qualification which enables these officers to train future generations of Samoan Police.

The High Commissioner presented laptop computers to the Police Commissioner, to support the training capability of the Police Training Section.
