Manu Samoa fans wear their true colours as the team trains as Western Springs.

Thousands of fans turned out at Western Springs today to catch an open training session for Manu Samoa ahead of this weekend’s Pacific battle.

Fans decked out in the national red and blue colours and waving flags proudly broke out into songs and chants as they watched the team train ahead of Sunday’s sold-out clash against Fiji at Eden Park.

School groups also turned up in droves in the hopes of scoring autographs from their sporting heroes.

The festive mood is a continuation of the support shown for Pacific Island nation teams.

Earlier last week, Manu Samoa fans turned up in droves at Britomart in central Auckland to show their support with an impromptu haka.

Tongan fans bought traffic to a standstill after thousands of fans flocked to welcome their team at Auckland Airport. 

Samoa take on Fiji at Eden Park on Sunday at 3.30pm.
