Dawn Princess cruise ship at Apia Harbour yesterday morning

 While many tourists are seen poking around the stalls in town this Teuila Festival, the occupancy rates at the hotels is a mixed bag.

Aggies at Vaisigano are doing quite well with hotel occupancy at 90 percent while popular Tanoa Tusitala’s 95 rooms are also in the high 90s.

They are fully booked for next week, they said, ensuring a post-Teuila spill over.Not as full is Amanaki Hotel and Hotel Elisa with numbers in the mid-50s, though they are putting out special discounts for rooms and meals.

The numbers are again up at Millennia Hotel at 80 percent though, they’re expecting a second wind next week with more bookings.

The bulk of visitors, the hotels say, are mainly visiting Kiwis and Aussies in addition to a rash of bookings from American Samoans for the weekend.

Mainly for the Miss Teuila pageant Saturday night, holidaying families and golf players for the weekend golf tournaments.

There are also big family reunions going on this week bringing in hordes of relatives from overseas.

The biggest won is the onas Coe family reunion that starts in the weekend. Yesterday, the Dawn Princess cruise ship was in Apia Harbour with its 800-plus passengers spilling into town and enjoying what’s being offered up this Teuila.
