Thousands of Catholic youths from around the world gathered in Apia this week for their annual youth conference. Prime Minister Tuilaepa Sailele Malielegaoi addressed the gathering last Friday, speaking on the need for youth to be proactive in their community, to work hard, stay out of trouble and to live Christian lives. Camped at the Tofamamao Center, Leauva’a, the week-long conference included seminars focussing on a myriad of issues from politics to education, health and the environment. It also inlcuded field trips to government departments, businesses, farms, schools and villages. There was a strong contingent from  Samoan Catholic youths from New Zealand, Australia, Hawaii, United States and American Samoa.
